The question was answered here before by Jaime_Alonso@Sunlife.com :The SEDOL Check Digit
- Multiply each sedol digit left to right by the weights 1, 3, 1, 7, 3, 9
and 1
- The sum of the product is ALWAYS a multiple of 10
Eg.
234567N (N=Check digit)
2 x 1 = 2
3 x 3 = 9
4 x 1 = 4
5 x 7 = 35
6 x3 = 18
7 x 9 = 63
===========
131
N x 1 = ??
So 131 + N = 140 (ALWAYS divisible by 10)
Therefore N = 9
