I am in charge of implementing a group-wide
data warehouse of risk taken by constituent units
in our bank. We operate on the international market
thus units can make positions, effectively take risks,
essentially on any market.

This risks by security are reported to the group-wide
financial risk controll function on a timely fashion,
where we have required ISIN codes as security
identifier.

Now we need to identify the security to which the risks apply.

Is ISIN code enough for this purpose or do we need
a market identifier (MID)?

How standardized is MID?

On top of this we need to be able to retrieve prices
for each reported security. We are in a process of
implementing market price database using Reuter feeds.
I am aware that one can retrieve ISIN code given
a RIC code. The question is if it is possible to go
the other way around, i.e. given ISIN code retrieve
RIC codes?

What is the best practice accomodating such needs?

Would appreciate very much any responses to this
questions.

Best regards
